
Kelly Clarkson was the American Dream's symbol when she was the winner of the first season of American Idol. She reaffirmed the idea that one could come in any place and become famous and something that American audiences could hang on to and, most importantly purchase. Her first album was an enormous success and after shifting to another label and having the control of her voice and style, her follow-up album went on to be the most popular album ever sold by an "American Idol" alum. Her achievements include extensive touring performing, recording many Top Ten songs, publishing two multi-Platinum albums, as well as being a mentor and co-writing much her songs. In addition, she's won a number of distinctions. She received the prestigious four American Music Awards as well 12 Billboard Music Awards. Two Grammy Awards and three MTV Video Music Awards. To date, she has been awarded 98 major music awards nominations and has won 70 of them.
