Lee Roy Selmon's life is one of football scholarships, family involvement and community involvement. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at the family farm near Eufala. Another reason for his football career was that he is the youngest of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was one of the starters for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon earned his degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine years for the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his career. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the most prominent young people in America. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when he played college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the squad. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an assistant director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
